The omega 3 depression research consists of clinical trials with patients suffering from bi-polar disorder, post-partum depression and mild to moderate depression. The omega 3 fatty acids DHA and EPA are generally used together in these studies, but sometimes only one or the other is used. These trials and studies attempt to answer the question: can fish oil control depression? Omega 3 depression researchers use fish oil specifically because it is the best and most common source of DHA and EPA.

Omega 3 research on depression varies in methodology. One study at the University Of Arizona College Of Medicine assessed the effectiveness of omega 3 dosages ranging from a half gram per day to 2.8 grams per day on women suffering from post-partum depression. The sample size was small and no placebo group was used. Doctors used two tests to measure degree of depression before and after omega 3 supplementation. The before and after results of this omega 3 depression study showed a decrease of 48-51% in degree of depression.

The answer to the question: can fish oil control depression, based on this study, was that “results support further study of omega 3 fatty acids as a treatment for post-partum depression”.

An omega 3 depression study in London concluded that EPA was an effective treatment for bi-polar disorder. Because of the link between depression and chronic fatigue syndrome, the effectiveness of omega 3’s in treating this syndrome has been studied and concluded that patients responded favorably.

Another omega 3 depression study was actually a study that involved studying other studes (sounds confusing, but this is actually often done), and concluded that it is likely that low levels of omega 3 fatty acids in the bloodstream are linked and may, in some cases, be the cause of depression. Can fish oil control depression? Very possibly.

In general, many studies report an improvement in symptoms related to depression after supplementation of omega 3 fatty acids.

Alzheimer’s is a neurodegenerative disease that is typified by progressive weakening of cognitive skills, affecting all aspects of day to day activities. A person suffering from Alzheimer’s is likely to undergo severe behavioral changes . Emil Kraepelin was the first person to identify the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease. Alois Alzheimer, who was a German psychiatrist, studied typical neuropathology for the first time in the year 1906.

The distinct and the most striking symptom of Alzheimer’s disease is amnesia. In the early stages, a victim of Alzheimer’s is quite often found to be in a confused state, and facing problems with short-term memory. There are usually problems with paying attention and in terms of spatial orientation.

The personality of the person affected usually undergoes a massive change coupled with frequent mood swings and the language of the patient may be affected. However, it should be noted that Alzheimer’s disease does not affect everyone in the same way,and this can make the disease quite difficult to diagnose.

In the early stages of the illness, patients tend to lose energy and their alertness of mind decreases but this change is hardly noticeable. Also, there is loss of memory and the person may become moody. Overall, the affected person becomes slow in responding to everyday stimuli. Eventually, due to the significant memory loss the patient tries to shields himself or herself from anything that they find unfamiliar, as a result the person can become highly confused and get lost easily and frequently.

In the next stage, the victim of Alzheimer’s starts seeking assistance to carry out those tasks that require heavy lifting. Their speech starts getting affected and quite frequently they stop abruptly after saying half a sentence. Depression, irritation and restlessness are some of the common traits during this stage of illness.

Slowly, the individual becomes disabled. They may remember past incidents but can’t recall the very recent ones. In the advanced stage it becomes difficult for the patient to distinguish between day and night or even recognize the faces of very near and dear ones.

In the last stage of the disease, patients merely exist. They experience total loss of memory and they are unable to eat properly and cannot control themselves to any great extent. Constant care is needed for a patient at this stage. The individual also becomes prone to other diseases such as pneumonia, infections, etc. Ultimately they become confined to bed and this fatal stage leads to death.

Alzheimer’s disease is not curable but there are treatments available that can slow its progress and there is promising research that may lead to a cure.

For any person making the switch from bodybuilder to powerlifter, or are new to the whole fitnessw thing and want to learn the differences between the two sports, then this article is for you. Bodybuilding and powerlifting may sound the same, but they are actually the complete opposite. You are going to learn why they are the opposite and the differences between the two sports in training, dieting, and supplementation.

The bodybuilder`s training routine emphasizes whichever goal the bodybuilder may have. Let`s say that a bodybuilder is getting ready for a contest and is only paying attention to getting toned. His training routine would start consisting of lighter weights just with more repetitions. In powerlifting, it is completely different! In a powerlifting contest, three events (squat, bench press, and deadlift) determine the overall winner. This is why powerlifters use a periodized training program which consists of four phases.

1) Hypertrophy
2) Basic Strength
3) Maximum Strength
4) Transition Speed

Bodybuilders must pay more attention what they eat than what powerlifters do because of the simple fact of bodybuilders keeping fat gain to a minimum. Powerlifters don`t have to go through the twelve weeks of severe dieting that bodybuilders go through, but they still have to keep their food intake high enough to stay in an anabolic state. Powerlifters get to eat more but that can actually be a bad thing for them because they simply have to eat more of the same healthy foods, which can make one feel sick after a week or so. However, bodybuilders and powerlifters diets both emphasize eating to gain muscle but powerlifters don`t have to worry about eating for fat loss.

A bodybuilder`s supplement cupboard would most likely consist of a healthy fat source, multivitamin, and whatever supplements for the goal that they are emphasizing. A powerlifter`s cupboard would contain the same basic supplements but only with more of the muscle building supplements such as creatine, ZMA, protein powder, and weight gainers. You will seldom ever see a powerlifter supplementing with weight loss products unless they are at the point of having too much bodyfat that is having a negative impact on their lifts.

Bodybuilding and powerlifting are both great sports to be involved with, but it is important that you know the differences between the two so that you`re not confused.
